REPORT: 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Is Going Back to Tatooine

Is there a more iconic planet in the Star Wars movies than Tatooine? Five of the six films have had scenes take place on the desert planet, with only Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back failing to visit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, we'll be returning to Tatooine in Star Wars: Episode VII.

Paparazzi, prepare to storm the desert! A source says Star Wars: Episode VII director J.J. Abrams and Disney are planning to build out an extensive re-creation of Tatooine, the desolate home planet of Luke and Anakin Skywalker, in a Morocco-like environment (the original was built in Tunisia).

With the rumored storyline for Episode VII being centered on both the Original Trilogy cast and the offspring of the Skywalkers, it makes sense that we'll go back to Tatooine. Sure, it's a massive galaxy and there are a ton of planets we could visit instead, but Tatooine has been where both Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker began their journeys into a bigger world.
