CBS Renews 'The Big Bang Theory' for Three More Seasons

Unlike a million other blogs making awful decisions, I won't start this article out with the word "bazinga." One, my autocorrect doesn't even recognize it as a real word. Two, I'm not going to pander to the fans of The Big Bang Theory. CBS is already doing that for me, renewing The Big Bang Theory for a whopping three more seasons.

Thanks to this unprecedented pickup, The Big Bang Theory will run for at least ten seasons, going through the 2016-17 season. With How I Met Your Mother wrapping things up and Two and a Half Men possibly facing cancelation, it's not surprising that CBS locked in The Big Bang Theory for this long. The network previously did this with HIMYM back when it looked like Charlie Sheen was going to sink Two and a Half Men, renewing HIMYM for two seasons at once.

"Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and The Big Bang Theory is the biggest comedy force on television," CBS Entertainment chair Nina Tassler said in a statement. "This multi-year deal further strengthens our network's position for future seasons and marks another chapter in the great partnership CBS enjoys with Warner Bros. Television for delivering audiences the best in comedy. We're proud to work with and showcase the incredible talents of Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and this amazing cast every week."

Speaking of that cast, at least Jim Parsons will have something to keep busy with when he's not being an awful Saturday Night Live host.
